Most discussions about fire-rated walls focus on fire resistance hours, but one of the most life-saving benefits of ALC wall panels is often overlooked: their complete lack of organic materials means they produce zero toxic smoke or corrosive fumes during a fire. Traditional wall materials often contain hidden combustible components that generate dangerous smoke during a fire. Standard gypsum board has a paper facer that burns quickly, releasing thick black smoke containing carbon monoxide and irritant gases.
